She woke up defiantly. The sounds, the lights, and the horrid feeling of the world crashed upon her as she left the dreams.

Moraine was not a lazy person, nor did she hate the world, it was just that the world in her dreams was so much better. In there she never stubbed her toe, never got a papercut, whenever it rained she always had an umbrella on hand. One would think that it never rained at all in her world of dreams, but Moraine liked rain... she just didn't like standing in the rain unprepared.
Moraine did not own an alarm clock — she did not even own a regular clock — but due to somewhat regrettable decisions regarding the placement of her bed and the railroad tracks right outside her bedroom windows, she now had free access to train horn honks from early morning until late at night every hour on the hour.

She sat on the side of the bed, dangling her legs, a yawn creeping up while she stretched her arms wide and high. Ready to leave bed, she slapped her cheeks, put her feet down on the cold hardwood floor.

Today was an important day for Moraine, that thing at work was finally! hopefully? probably... most likely. going to be resolved! You might question what said thing is, but that is not of importance, the important part is that today was the day.

Moraine moved smoothly across the apartment, grabbing two slices of bread and put them in the toaster on her way to the toilet. Before the slices were toast she had finished her business and poured herself an iced coffee - one that she meticulously prepared the night before - she held a knife with butter to be spread at the ready.

TBC maybe.
